Roma may not have won Best Picture, but the creators certainly did not leave the awards night empty-handed. They took home the award for Foreign Language Film, as well as Cinematography and Directing for Alfonso Cuarón. Many viewers and critics have called it a masterpiece in the art of film, a beautiful slice-of-life look at the relationship between a middle-class family and their domestic worker in 1970s Mexico City. Shot fully in black and white, it is the Gravity director’s most personal and ambitious work yet, and a very promising launch of newcomer Yalitza Aparicio (who was nominated for the Best Actress Oscar) into stardom.

Where to watch it: If you’re a Netflix subscriber, there’s no need to take out your wallet or leave your home for this one. Yup, Romais a Netflix movie, so go ahead and stream it now!
