There are plenty of heartwarming and tear-jerking movies to catch this month.

1. Dear You (给阿嬷的情书)

Dear You is one of the most moving films of recent times. Its heartfelt storytelling has resonated deeply with audiences, leading to additional screenings being added due to overwhelming demand. A poignant tale of love, loss, and second chances, it is sure to leave viewers reaching for the tissues.

Ye Shurou, a Teochew grandmother, has spent her later years in quiet contentment. But when her debt-ridden grandson Xiaowei secretly leaves for Thailand in search of Zheng Musheng, the wealthy grandfather he has only heard about through family rumours, the family’s peace is disrupted.

Xiaowei eventually returns with news that changes everything: Zheng Musheng had died many years ago, and the love letters Grandma had treasured all this time were not written by him, but by someone else entirely. As Xiaowei begins to uncover the truth, a love story buried for fifty years resurfaces, forcing Grandma to confront emotions she thought had long been left behind.

2. The Eyes

Seo-jin, a photographer slowly losing her eyesight due to a hereditary condition, is devastated when she discovers the body of her twin sister, Seo-in. Though Seo-in had gone blind years earlier, she refused to let her disability define her, building a successful career as a celebrated ceramic artist.

While authorities are quick to rule the death a suicide, Seo-jin is convinced there is more to the story. Haunted by cryptic artworks left behind in her sister’s studio and troubled by reports of an unidentified figure seen near the scene on the day of her death, she begins her own search for answers. But as her vision continues to fade, she soon finds herself in grave danger and potentially the killer’s next target.

With Detective Do-hyuk acting as her eyes, the pair work together to unravel the mystery. As hidden secrets begin to surface and long-buried truths come to light, they are drawn ever deeper into a chilling case that proves far more disturbing than either of them could have imagined.

3. Moana

5. KOKUHO (国宝) 

One of Japan’s most acclaimed films of the year, KOKUHO (国宝) arrives exclusively at Shaw Theatres from 23 July 2026.
