Known simply as ‘Gurney Drive‘, the restaurant is named after and inspired by the original Gurney Drive in Penang, Malaysia. It opened its first outlet in Suntec City in 2011 but made a difficult decision to close all of its stores in 2015 following the departure of its Penangite chef. To return to its humble beginnings, it reopened as a standalone outpost early this year in Northshore Plaza II, Singapore’s first seafront neighborhood built within an HDB estate.
This year, it is coming back to its first home with its second outlet with new store-exclusive items. The Suntec City outlet will serve five exclusive dishes that won’t be found in other outposts. They include the Assam Curry Fish Head, Braised Pork Rice, Beef Rendang Nasi Lemak, Penang Lor Bak and Rojak Fish Skin.
Gurney Drive is located at 3 Temasek Boulevard, B1-100/101. Suntec City Mall Tower 4, East Wing (near Giant).
