Based on two memoirs by David Sheff and his son, Nic Sheff, Beautiful Boy the film tells of the heart-wrenching relationship between a father and his teenage son. A bright and talented kid in school, Nicolas (Timothee Chalamet) seems to have everything going for him. So it shook his father David’s (Steve Carell) world to discover that eighteen-year-old Nicolas has been suffering from a crystal-meth addiction. Confused that he son he thought he knew has changed completely, David is desperate to save Nic from the destructive clutches of addiction, while trying to save their relationship in the meantime too. In this raw and gripping movie, Steve Carell and Timothee Chalamet deliver sensitive, Oscar-worthy performances as father and son.
