WeekendList: 29-31 August 2025

If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to eat, play, and explore, this weekend in Singapore is buzzing with everything from glowing heritage buildings and free sandwiches to fiery crabs.

1. Customise Your Own Scent and Catch Sunset Cinema at Capitol Singapore & CHIJMES

The Singapore Night Festival 2025 has taken over the Civic District, and this year’s edition brings Capitol Singapore and CHIJMES into the spotlight. From now until 6 September 2025, the two heritage landmarks will transform into glowing canvases, lit up with dazzling light projections and playful installations that reimagine Singapore’s island heritage.

One standout this weekend is Kampung Chill by Yok & Sheryo, where you can kick back with a steaming cup of chai masala while watching films inspired by ocean horizons and dusky skies. The atmosphere feels like a laid-back seaside cinema, only transplanted into the middle of the city.

For something interactive, spend a minimum of S$80 and you’ll get to customise your fragrance blend or walk away with a mystery “blind box” scent inspired by Singapore’s islands. It’s a unique way to bring home a sensorial festival piece. Of course, all that exploring is best rounded off at CHIJMES’ Main Lawn, where Mexican restaurant Poczarica serves island-inspired bites under fairy lights, alongside craft beers. Think of it as a one-stop evening that blends art, food, and heritage with whimsy.

2. Outdoor Fair at *SCAPE Orchard

Urban Singapore meets the wild this weekend at the Outdoor Fair, returning to *SCAPE Orchard on 30 and 31 August 2025. With more than 40 vendors and 55+ outdoor brands participating, the event is both a gear showcase and a community festival for adventurers.

Brands like Patagonia, Fjällräven, Helinox, and Snow Peak will showcase their latest collections, but this isn’t just retail therapy. Expect sharing sessions from seasoned adventurers, hands-on demos of tents, hiking gear, and technical footwear, and live music performances to keep the vibe festive. It’s the perfect chance for outdoor enthusiasts to connect with like-minded people while exploring new kits for future hikes or camping trips.

This year’s edition also coincides with the unveiling of *SCAPE’s revamped community hub, making the event a milestone for Singapore’s youth and outdoor culture. Even if you’re not a hardcore camper, the mix of talks, performances, and gear showcases creates an immersive, family-friendly outing.

*SCAPE is located at 2 Orchard Link, #04-05, Singapore 237978.

5. Marriott International’s Luxury Dining Series 2025

If you’ve ever wanted to see what happens when chefs from Michelin-starred kitchens collaborate across borders, the Luxury Dining Series 2025 at The St. Regis Singapore is the ticket. Running from 29 to 31 August, the event transforms the hotel into a culinary playground across four venues: Yan Ting, The Astor Grill, The Tea Room, and the brand-new St. Regis Bar Singapore.

At Yan Ting, Executive Chinese Chef Chan Chung Shing teams up with Chef Daniel Wong from one-MICHELIN-starred Jin Xuan in Shanghai to present a rare four-hands feast. Expect imperial Cantonese dishes crafted with finesse that showcase time-honoured techniques elevated for a modern palate.

Meanwhile, The Tea Room will host a Diamond Jubilee Afternoon Tea, curated by Angela Lai (Asia’s Best Pastry Chef 2021) alongside Executive Pastry Chef Ng Chee Leong. Their spread draws on beloved local flavours—think elegant reinterpretations of kueh and childhood sweets, refined into artful tea bites.

Cocktail lovers can be among the first to christen the St. Regis Bar Singapore, where guest bartenders Paulo Naranjo (No. 22 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2025) and Marco Dognini (No. 48) are flying in for a spirited takeover. Over at The Astor Grill, it’s all about European indulgence, with a six-hands menu uniting Italian, Portuguese, and contemporary flavours in a single tasting. This is not just dining; it’s a culinary showcase of stories, heritage, and cross-cultural artistry.

The St. Regis Singapore is located at 29 Tanglin Rd, Singapore 247911.

6. Crack a Deal with S$60 Chilli or Black Pepper Crab at Mutiara Seafood

Seafood feasts in Singapore often come with hefty price tags, but Mutiara Seafood by JUMBO Group is changing the game with a limited-time promotion. From now until 30 September 2025, enjoy two live crabs (500g each) for just $60. Take your pick between their Signature Chilli Crab or Signature Black Pepper Crab—quintessential local favourites that capture the essence of Singapore’s culinary identity.

Launched to celebrate Singapore’s 60th birthday and pay tribute to the nation’s fishing village heritage, the promotion is as meaningful as it is mouthwatering. To complete the feast, Mutiara Seafood also offers a special lunch menu for groups of two to ten, perfect for family meals, friendly catch-ups, or team gatherings.

If you’ve been craving crab but holding back because of price, this is your chance to indulge without hesitation.

7. Dirty Sips launches a brand new cocktail menu

Dirty Sips by Dirty Supper is quietly, yet boldly, redefining the cocktail scene with a low-waste, ingredient-led approach. Under Bar Manager Ricardo “Arjay” Abaleta, kitchen trims and overlooked ingredients are transformed into inventive cocktails full of purpose and flavour.

The new menu revolves around two styles: Classics (S$18++), reimagined favourites with house-made twists, and Make It Dirty (S$20++), a rotating lineup inspired by seasonal kitchen offcuts.

Highlights include the Apple Highball with Jura 12 whisky, green apple, and parsley, the savoury Pickled Lemon Martini, and the rich Black Garlic & Honey Sour. For the adventurous, Make It Dirty creations include the mushroom-driven Shiitake Happens, the refreshing Big Juicy Melons milk punch, and the playful White Boy Negroni with shiso gin and pickled apricot.

Dirty Sips by Dirty Supper is located at 78 Moh Guan Terrace, #01-19, Singapore 162078.

8. Celebrate Qixi Festival with Haidilao’s Pink Confession Broth

Hotpot gets a romantic makeover this weekend at Haidilao Singapore, which is rolling out a limited-time Pink Confession Broth in honour of the Qixi Festival—the Chinese Valentine’s Day. Infused naturally with beetroot, the soup base takes on a whimsical rosy hue that turns every bubbling pot into a celebration of love and friendship. Available for one day only on 29 August 2025, it’s a dish made for couples, friends, or even solo diners looking for a playful twist.

Adding to the festive atmosphere are exclusive couple badges gifted to those who reserve in advance through the Haidilao app. This small but charming keepsake captures the spirit of togetherness. Guests who spend S$88 or more can also redeem a pair of adorable Little Veggie charms, each designed to highlight the festival’s “Veggie Much in Love” theme. Collectors will be pleased to know there are multiple designs, but they’re only available while stocks last.

9. Joo Chiat’s Don’t Runaway Sandwich Pop-Up

Ending on a high note (and a full stomach), the Don’t Runaway pop-up lands in Joo Chiat starting 29 August 2025 with a promise that sounds too good to be true: free sandwiches, every weekend, no strings attached. Brought to life by the same culinary rebels behind Champion Bolo Bun and Dickson Nasi Lemak, Don’t Runaway is as much a cultural statement as it is a food event.

Each week features a different one-off sandwich, meaning no repeats and no boring menus. The line-up swings from bold meat-stacked creations to cheeky plant-based takes. Early previews include the Side Chick (smoked chicken with pumpkin seed dukkah), the Mortadel-lah (mortadella, stracciatella, salsa verde, yuzukosho), and the Beef Me Up (yakiniku brisket with peanut butter and a chilli crunch made from rendered brisket fat). It’s loud, messy, and unapologetically indulgent.

To score one, all you need to do is download the “Don’t Runaway” app, flash your in-app QR code at the 320 Joo Chiat Road pop-up, and walk away with a sandwich in one hand and a Coke in the other. The catch? Only one per person each weekend. The bigger catch? You’ll probably want to come back repeatedly to see what sandwich they dream up next.

10. Wu Pao Chun Begins New Chapter at Holland Village

Wu Pao Chun has officially opened its doors at Holland Village, bringing its award-winning bakes to one of Singapore’s most vibrant neighborhoods. Fans can indulge in the bakery’s iconic champion loaves, including the Lychee Rose Royale, which clinched the title at the 2010 Masters de la Boulangerie, and the Red Wine Longan, Wu Pao Chun’s first globally recognized creation that debuted at the 2008 Louis Lesaffre Cup.

Alongside these signatures, the Holland Village store also introduces an exciting lineup of new creations such as the Cranberry Flaxseed, Cottony Macaron, and more. To mark the grand opening, a series of special promotions will run throughout August—perfect for long-time fans and first-time visitors.

Wu Pao Chun at Holland Village is located at 245 Holland Ave, Singapore 278977.
