4. Discover Unseen Ocean Realms With ArtScience Museum and OceanX
The mysteries of the deep sea have officially arrived on Singapore’s shores, unveiling a world rarely seen and cloaked in perpetual darkness. Announced on 5 June 2026, the ArtScience Museum has launched its groundbreaking exhibition Into the Ocean: Journey Beneath, which opened to the public on 6 June 2026.
Developed in collaboration with global ocean exploration company OceanX, the multi-sensory experience blends cutting-edge marine science with contemporary art, transporting visitors onto the deck of the advanced research vessel R/V OceanXplorer. From the echo of deep-sea communications to the immersive sensation of a simulated submarine descent, the exhibition invites guests to journey through the ocean’s hidden layers and encounter a secret world beneath the waves.
As visitors descend beyond the sunlit surface, they move through carefully curated environments that reflect the changing conditions of the deep sea. The experience flows from the vibrant coral ecosystems of the Photic Zone, into the dimly lit Twilight Zone, and ultimately into the pitch-black Aphotic Zone. Along the way, rare deep-sea specimens are presented alongside immersive installations by international artists. Guests can explore ocean-inspired “smellscapes,” take control of a virtual OceanX submersible, and experience multi-channel soundscapes inspired by the abyssal plains.
The journey concludes with a powerful return to light in the final chapter, Resurface. Developed in partnership with WWF Singapore, this closing space encourages visitors to move from observation to action, offering insights into regional seagrass restoration efforts and marine conservation.
By weaving together art, science, and real-world exploration, the exhibition creates a profound connection to the fragile ecosystems that sustain our planet. It serves as a poetic reminder that understanding the ocean is the first step toward protecting it.
ArtScience Museum is located at 6 Bayfront Avenue, Singapore 018974.
