Look forward to an expansive exhibition that celebrates the world’s oldest continuous living culture, and its rich creative expression in the present – the art of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the First Peoples of Australia.
Ever Present: First Peoples Art of Australia is making its first international stop at the Gallery. To give local and regional audiences a rare and extensive look into the culture, history, and heritage of the First Peoples of Australia through their vibrant artistic practices. The landmark survey – the largest of its kind to travel to Asia – draws from the collections of the National Gallery of Australia and The Wesfarmers Collection of Australian Art. It showcase a diverse range of historical and contemporary artworks by over 150 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island artists from across Australia. Visitors will be treated to the masterpieces of some of the country’s most influential artistic figures, including Albert Namatjira, Emily Kame Kngwarreye, Rover Thomas and many others.
