7. Hot meals from self-service machines
While the spawn of online-based food delivery services has been relished by busy urbanites, a new contender has entered the age of food convenience – automatic meal-dispensing machines. Though this concept was first introduced by Hotbake 24/7 in 2002 with its toasted sandwich vending machine, Chef-in-Box pulled out all the stops by opening a cashless all-vending machine café at Anchorvale Drive last year, before adding two more at public transport hubs in recent times. The VendCafé offers machines stocked with over 90 food and drink options, such as clay pot chicken rice and salted egg yolk pasta, which takes merely 30 seconds to dispense every meal.
