Lawry’s has recently launched its new high tea menu for a relaxing afternoon
Lawry’s is known for its prime rib, beef steak, and the old-timey décor. And it adds another feather to its cap with its Royal Tea menu.
The décor and uniformed waitresses at Lawry’s are decidedly colonial, and the place rocks a nineties vibe that adds to the slight nostalgic feel at the restaurant. The Royal Tea menu is a set for two as $48++ from Monday to Saturday from 2.30PM to 5PM.
Tai-tai Tea Time
The Royal Tea set for two comprises savouries and sweets served in a tiered dish. You also get to pick a coffee, tea, or mocktail/cocktail for an additional $3-$8.
The savouries include finger sandwiches, shrimp croissants, and chicken bruschetta. But wait… “It’s Lawry’s,” you cry, “Where is the beef?” Well, I’ll tell you: there’s a Prime Beef Yorkshire Roll-Up in the menu that is juicy and full of sauce.
Sweet Teas and Cakes
If you prefer your sweets, you can indulge your sweet tooth with the mini Banana Chocolate Parfait, which is rich but not too cloying. The Carrot Cake is also dense and moist. But I was a little disappointed by the Homemade Scones with Devonshire Cream since the scone reminded me of a sugar biscuit that sat in a mound of cream.
An array of Gryphon Artisan Teas are available such as French Vanilla Sencha and Pink Rose Buds. They are available to help wash all those sweets down. But if you like a sweet drink, try the non-alcoholic Strawberry Moscato a la Lawry’s, which is made with Moscato Blanc tea, strawberry puree, and lime. The alcoholic Royal Tea is made with Earl Grey, Smirnoff Black, and lime. It’s is a good tea time tipple as well.
