STAR WARS: A TIMELESS EPIC

Set between the events of Star Wars Episode III and IV (Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope), the story unfolds during a dark time when the evil Galactic Empire is tightening its grip on power in the galaxy. Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet and are ruining the lives of its people.

The motley but clever crew of the starship “Ghost” – cowboy Jedi Kanan, ace pilot Hera, street-smart teenager Ezra, the “muscle” Zeb, warrior firebrand Sabine, and cantankerous old astro-mech droid Chopper – is among the few who are brave enough to stand against the Empire.

Together, they face new villains and colourful adversaries and thrilling adventures and become heroes with the power to ignite a galactic rebellion.

INCULCATING VALUES IN THE YOUNG

In addition to drawing from the aesthetic look of the original trilogy, Rebels also captures the narrative essence of Star Wars, which recounts the mythic journey of the hero who at first refuses the call to adventure and his destiny.

Initially, Ezra wants nothing to do with the rebels’ cause but he soon discovers that joining this crew might bring a larger meaning to his life – a sense of family, of helping others, and being part of a movement that is bigger than himself.

Ezra takes his first step into a larger world, beginning a new journey that is worthy of the Star Wars saga.

A SHOW ACROSS GENERATIONS

As Star Wars Rebels takes place in the era between the prequel trilogy and original trilogy, it is in a position to bridge the two, both aesthetically and generationally.

Rebels, being a cross-pollination of the two trilogies, can see parents enjoying the icons from Star Wars while newer generations are introduced to the saga.

Star Wars Rebels premiered in a one-hour special on 4 Oct, ushering in the series beginning on 29 Nov, 12pm on Disney & 30 Nov, 8.30am on Disney XD.
