Nestled in Singapore’s first integrated Japanese emporium Emporium Shokuhin is dining concept Takujo, which serves seasonal produce fresh from the emporium itself.

Expect to be wowed by dishes like the 21-day A5 Miyazaki Steak ($118), which had been aged in the emporium’s very own beef dry-ageing facility. Well-marbled and tender, the steak was excellent.

To do

1. Appreciate the ancient Chinese tea ceremony from the Ming Dynasty

While what seems like half of Singapore is crowding out the usual Christmas light-up hotspots, bring your family to a more quiet and alternative celebration. Remember Ming: The Old is New Again will open your eyes to how the cultural achievements of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) – like Chinese tea ceremony, tenmoku and wood-fired ceramics and Ming-style garments – continue to shape our modern identity.

Look out for notable artifacts and exhibitions, such as Taiwanese ceramist Chang Kuei-wei’s Tenmoku tea bowls, which also appear in the permanent collections of The British Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum.

2. Win a $2,100 Ricola gold nugget

In celebration of the candy’s Jubilee, one lucky winner from Singapore will win a gold nugget valued at CHF 1,525 ($2,118) in the Ricola online Sweepstakes. The 18-carat gold nugget is forged into the shape of Original Ricola Swiss Herb Candy drop.

3. Attend the very first Hello Kitty night run

If running with Hello Kitty everything isn’t exciting enough, this year, Singapore will be host to the very first Hello Kitty night run. The 5km route, starting and ending at The Float at Marina Bay, will give you a breath-taking view of Singapore’s most iconic landmarks.

The race pack was designed with Hello Kitty lovers in mind: An exclusive runner’s t-shirt, and a special limited-edition Christmas-themed Hello Kitty plush toy, race bib, medal and Hello Kitty shoe bag.

There will also be a Christmas carnival to look forward to, with fun-filled activities that the whole family can enjoy.
