4. Bing Tang Hu Lu (Candied Hawthorns)
Popularised by comic books and period dramas alike, the ubiquitous bing tang hu lu is often depicted as a stick with red candy balls. In fact, they are Chinese hawthorns covered with a hardened coat of sugar syrup and skewered onto long thin sticks. You’ll find versions with strawberries and apples too and even ones stuffed with haws.
