4. My Mother Says, $25

Told in a tongue-in-cheek, light-hearted, comical manner, ‘My Mother Says’ features about 150 noteworthy tales across all races that anyone can relate to within the Singapore context.  “On the first day of Chinese New Year, cannot cut hair. My mother say one.” Sounds familiar? Design studio Plus Collaboratives went on to find out the origins of these tales, how they were passed down and explore the eccentric nature of these stories– from persuasions used to motivate certain behaviours in children to scare tactics employed to get their kids to behave in a certain way. Using photographs and comic-like speech bubbles, ‘My Mother Says’  is bound to bring some laughs this National Day.
