Celebrate Pride Month through films, rediscover Jean Grey's powers, and hang with the Toy Story gang one more time
2. Pink Screen
We’re celebrating the freedom to love this June with a whole host of special LGBTQ-friendly events. Pink Fest returns from 14 to 29 June, and as with previous years, it includes the Pink Screen film programme hosted by The Projector. Five different films about being LGBTQ in various environments around the world. The acclaimed musical drama Canary follows the story of a young closeted gay man who gets called to serve in the South African military and joins its choir. The film adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s gender-defying classic novel Orlando will also be screened. Rounding up the programme are three Asian films – a Japanese transgender family drama, a documentary about a gay man struggling to be accepted by his conservative family in China, and a Filipino coming-of-age tale about a gay teenager who falls for a policeman. Screenings extend from June to July.
