1. Have yourself a charcoal kaya croissant
Antoinette has introduced the Charcoal Kaya Croissant ($6) as a tribute to the traditional kaya toast breakfast set. The croissant itself is infused with bamboo charcoal while its filling is a house-made kaya recipe that’s based on the classic French crème patissiere — made with coconut cream and pure pandan juice. 2. Enjoy beef skewers served on old school wooden carts
Thrust into the spotlight ever since news of its closure last year, Shashlik restaurant has reopened its doors after being revived by its second-generation owners. If you haven’t been there in awhile, it’s time to pay a visit and try their signature Shashlik of Beef — skewers of lean beef tenderloin presented on an old-school wooden trolley and served on a sizzling hot plate.

3. Celebrate with a Choco-nana cake
Whether you’re an April baby or not, there’s always a reason to celebrate with cake. From Apr 9-30, Bakerzin is offering its Choco-nana cake at a special price of $42 (approx 1kg). 5. See the secrets of National Library
The National Library is holding a major exhibition, From the Stacks: Highlights of the National Library, showcasing more than 100 over rare artefacts dating back to the 18th and 19th century Singapore.
Many of these artefacts are being displayed for the first time to the public and features rare publications, manuscripts, documents, maps and photographs.
