3. Widows

Oscar-winning director Steve McQueen’s first film since 12 Years A Slave sees him teaming up with Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl) for an empowering new heist thriller. More than your typical heist movie, though, Widows explores the determination of four women to take control of their future, to break free from the corruption of the Chicago south. Veronica (Viola Davis), Alice (Elizabeth Debicki), Linda (Michelle Rodriguez) and Belle (Cynthia Erivo) are four widows who are forced to somehow repay the debts of their dead gang criminal husbands, after a robbery attempt goes wrong. To get those mobsters off their back, they decide to work together to try to pull off one big heist. Critics have been raving about this high-action, female-driven thriller, which boasts a dream star-studded cast. Alongside the four main women, Daniel Kaluuya, Liam Neeson, Colin Farrell, Robert Duvall, and Brian Tyree Henry also star.
