Local crooner Charlie Lim has released the final song and music video from his critically acclaimed album “Time/Space”, and it’s quite the cinematic treat.
Titled “Light Breaks In”, the single is accompanied by a touching music video directed by award-winning cinematographer duo, Jonathan Choo and Rachel Liew. By portraying an uncomfortable topic close to many, it stirs up the emotions. Check it out:
The narrative is loosely based Lim’s relationships with his father and late grandmother, the latter who suffered from schizophrenia and depression. We knew he’s a pretty sentimental person, but we’re still pleasantly surprised by this intimate piece.
Lim sheds some light on his inspiration, saying, “My dad was the eldest in the family, and had to help raise his five younger siblings while taking care of my grandma, whose condition was worsening. I’m always in awe of how strong and patient he is.”
Last year, Lim debuted his album “Time/Space” at his sold-out solo concert at the Esplanade Concert Hall, after selling out two shows at the Mosaic Music Festival 2014. He is the first Singaporean artist to achieve these two milestones.
Lim has also shared the stage with international artists such as Sigur Ros, Kimbra and BadBatNotGood.
