What it’s about: In a poverty-stricken future, everyone at the age of 20 can apply for “The Process,” seeking to be the top 3% who would get the chance to live in the affluent paradise known as the “Offshore,” while the unsuccessful remain in the under-developed “Inland.” We follow a group of young promising candidates in “The Process,” who have to work together to survive the brutal challenges even though some have very different motivations.
Why you should watch: More than another Hunger Games, this Brazilian sci-fi dystopia is a thrilling and very human story that keeps you at the edge of your seat. As the series in filmed entirely in Brazilian Portuguese, you need to rely on subtitles, but the minor inconvenience is totally worth the refreshing non-Western perspective to dystopian storytelling.
Seasons One and Two are currently available on Netflix, while the show will return for Season Three in 2019.
