8. Singapore’s First Ever Hokkien Lam Ann Cultural Festival
From now until 8 October 2023, between the hours of 11 AM and 9 PM, The Singapore Lam Ann Association takes immense pride in presenting the inaugural Singapore Hokkien Lam Ann Cultural Festival!
This festival is a vibrant celebration of the rich culture and storied heritage of Nan’An province in Fujian, China. At the festival, visitors can anticipate nearly 20 food stalls offering an assortment of over 40 Hokkien delicacies, including favourites like Rice Dumplings, Hokkien Chicken Rice, Shark’s Fin, Braised Noodles, Kueh Pie Tee, Ngoh Hiang, Large Intestine Soup, Oyster Omelette, and more. Sweet treats are also available, featuring traditional delights like Ang Ku Kueh, Sweet Potato Cake, and Green Bean Soup. These delectable flavours are served alongside a lively lineup of cultural activities and family-oriented workshops suitable for all ages.
Enjoy a full day of fun, including activities like lantern making, miniature piglet mooncake baking, lantern riddles, clay sculpting, calligraphy, Chinese ink painting, and much more. For the adults, take a nostalgic journey as you attend a sharing session with Dr. Chua Chee Lay, the esteemed former Mandarin tutor of Singapore’s founding father, Lee Kuan Yew.
