National Gallery Singapore has extended the exhibition duration of Liu Kuo-Sung: Experimentation as Method, which will now open until 25 February 2024. Showcasing seven decades of the 91-year-old Chinese artist’s career, this retrospective is Singapore’s most extensive exhibition in a public museum dedicated to Liu Kuo-sung.
Featuring over 60 paintings and 150 items sourced from the artist’s collection, the exhibition delves into the artist’s profound impact on the evolution of modern Chinese ink painting. Highlighting his pioneering experimentation and adept fusion of traditional Chinese and Western art techniques, it underscores Liu’s substantial contributions and innovations in this field. Visitors can anticipate encountering his notable works, where he tested and amalgamated traditional Chinese and Western art philosophies.
