DesignSingapore and Hans Tan Studio will be launching its newest exhibition, ‘R for Repair’. ‘R for Repair’ wish to shine a timely spotlight on global waste starting this January 2021. The exhibition will run from 13 January to 6 February at the National Design Centre, Singapore.
Curated by local designer, Hans Tan, ‘R for Repair’ will feature works from 10 local designers and 9 student projects. The students are from the National University of Singapore, Division of Industrial Design. The works focus on how broken or discarded items can be given new value and a fresh lease on life with just a little ingenuity.
This project presents a counterpoint to our modern consumerist culture, where repair is either deprecated or, ironically, deemed extravagant. It shifts the concept of repair away from the mere restoration. Instead reimagine it as an inspiring activity that produces aspiring outcomes.
