This new café with an interesting name delights with muffins and other breakfast food
Do you know the muffin man who lives on Drury Lane? You might be familiar with the catchy nursery rhyme that goes something like that.
Named after the actual street in London, UK, we now have our own Drury Lane in the form of this quaint new café in the historic Tanjong Pagar area.
New Kid on the Block
Drury Lane opened its doors about five months ago, in July, and is run by five partners.
One of the owners, Chia Hwee, says, “Three of us are long-time friends and we met the other two at a previous job. Sensing each other’s passion for coffee and culinary [sic], we decided to set up our own place, where we can have full control of what we want to do.”
Drury Lane serves customer favourites such as eggs Benedict, muffins, tarts and baked eggs. There is also an All-Day Breakfast & Brunch menu.
The Big 94 ($14) is their take on a big breakfast, with eggs, sausage, mushrooms, honey-cured turkey bacon, baked beans and toast. The Eggs Benedict ($12) comes with honey-cured turkey ham, poached eggs, homemade hollandaise sauce and toast.
Fans of the Australian breakfast can also get their fix of Marmite with Cheese Soldiers ($8) – Marmite cheese toast and two half boiled eggs.
Wake & Bake
Drury Lane’s baked eggs come in various types. Apart from the Bacon Baked Eggs ($12) and Sausage Baked Eggs ($12), they also have heavier Potato Leek Baked Eggs ($10) with potato, leeks, mushroom, homemade baked beans and cheese, and Salmon Baked Eggs ($12) containing smoked salmon, capers and rocket leaves.
They also have specials every week for lunch, dinner and brunch. Says Chia Hwee, “Some items would be Green Curry Prawn Pasta, Asparagus and Smoked Salmon Miso Spaghetti, Creamy Tandoori Chicken Pasta, Truffle Eggs Breakfast and more.”
Everything in the display is also made fresh in store, every morning. There are also plans to expand the coffee selection as well as the desserts.
