#WeekenderEats: The Renowned Tokyo Kaizen Izakaya Uoharu Opens In Singapore

Love unwinding with drinks after work? Check out Singapore’s newest hotspot, Uoharu!

This renowned Japanese izakaya chain from Tokyo has just opened its doors here.

From the moment you step through Uoharu’s entrance, your unforgettable dining experience begins. One of the restaurant’s unique features is its lowered doorway, which symbolizes a respectful bow to the chef—a gesture of gratitude for their culinary artistry.

Potato Salad with Smoked Mackerel & Egg

The menu at Uoharu offers a diverse selection of Japanese delights. Start your meal with appetizers like Bagna Cauda (S$3.00++), Baguette Toast with Cream Cheese and maple Syrup (S$7.80++), or the flavorful Potato Salad with Smoked Mackerel and egg (S$7.80++), a creamy twist on a traditional favorite.

Seared Miso Sashimi Tartare

For snacks that pair perfectly with their wide variety of drinks, try the Seared Miso Sashimi Tartare (S$14.80++)—delicate sashimi in a miso sauce, served with a runny egg yolk and nori seaweed for added flavor. Another standout is the Akita Smoked Radish with Cream Cheese (S$10.80++), a delightful combination of smoked radish marinated for a week and the smooth creaminess of cream cheese.

U.S. Beef Short Rib with Bone

A treat worthy of both the eyes and mouth is Robatayaki’s traditional Japanese cooking method, where skilled chefs grill a variety of prime-cut meats and seafood over a hot charcoal source and smoke them to preferred doneness. The recommended meat options include the U.S. Beef Short Rib with Bone (S$32.80++) and Squid with Squid Liver Sauce (S$16.80++).

Japanese-style thick Fried Tofu

Their extensive à la carte menu offers more delicious options, such as the Japanese-style thick Fried Tofu (S$6.80++), where soft, pillowy tofu is expertly fried to create a delicate, tempura-like crispy exterior—made possible by their secret batter recipe. Seafood lovers will delight in Uoharu’s signature Manzoku Tuna & Sea Urchin Sushi Roll (S$28.80++). This indulgent roll combines the best of the ocean in a single bite, with layers of negitoro, maguro, ikura, uni, and crab meat nestled on Japanese rice and wrapped in nori.

Soba with Karasumi

For something truly special, explore Uoharu’s unique soba and rice dishes. The Soba with Karasumi (S$20.80++) features noodles topped with grated mullet roe, delivering a rich, umami-packed oceanic flavor. Another must-try is the Homemade Snow Crab Croquette Rice (S$29.80++), served in a sizzling hot stone bowl and topped with ikura—mix it all for a satisfying and flavorful meal.

Of course, Uoharu’s drinks menu is equally impressive. It offers over 100 selections from Japan, including sake, beer, highballs, lemon sour, cocktails, shochu, wine and more.

Uoharu is also one of the few places in Singapore where you can enjoy draft sake, a specialty brew made without preservatives.

One final reminder! Don’t miss their nightly Katsuo Warayaki Show, a fiery display of traditional straw roasting and grilling that brings a variety of dishes to life. After each show, guests are treated to complimentary tasting portions, including grilled bonito fish, which is a token of the chef’s gratitude for your visit.

Uoharu is located at 2 Central Boulevard #01-16, Central Boulevard Towers Singapore 018916
