Rather than simply reproducing the original arrangements, the producers explore pop, funk, cinematic balladry and electronic music. “Reach Out For The Skies”, performed by RINES and aküma, receives a disco-inflected groove, while aküma’s rendition of “Breathing City” takes on a moodier and more restrained character.
Dominic Chin lends a soaring, theatrical quality to “Shine On Me”. Perhaps the album’s most unexpected moment comes from Gail Belmonte’s version of “Home”, which moves from its familiar melody into a striking electronic chorus.

2. Light Up Your National Day with a Night at Light Together Bras Basah.Bugis
Explore Singapore’s heritage district after dark at Light Together Bras Basah.Bugis 2026, a new night-time experience running from 1 August to 5 September 2026. Organised by HeritageSG in conjunction with the Singapore Night Festival, the programme transforms familiar streets, public spaces and landmarks with immersive light installations and digital storytelling.
More than just a series of illuminated displays, the trail draws inspiration from Singapore’s folklore, collective memories and stories rooted in the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct. Follow the route through Artsplace at Waterloo Centre, the Reflection Pool above Bras Basah MRT station, Stamford Place, Stamford Walkway and the National Museum of Singapore, where each stop offers a different perspective on the neighbourhood.
Do note that the National Museum installation is available only from 1 to 12 August 2026, so visit early if you’d like to experience the full trail. The remaining installations continue until 5 September, making it a great excuse to rediscover one of Singapore’s most vibrant cultural districts after sunset.
For the best experience, start your walk around Waterloo Street before heading towards Stamford Road. Wear comfortable shoes, as the trail spans several locations, and set aside about an hour or two to explore at a leisurely pace. Admission is free.

3. Enjoy a National Day Feast with Marina Bay Views at LeVeL33
For a celebratory meal with one of Singapore’s most recognisable views, book a table at LeVeL33 on 8 or 9 August. Its pre-order-only four-course National Day menu is priced at S$138++ per guest and combines local culinary references with the restaurant’s brewery-led approach.
The experience begins with a Parker House roll finished with beer-and-honey glaze and soy butter. This is followed by New Zealand king salmon sashimi and a burrata course, brightened by curried eggplant chutney, curry leaves, and crisp, spiced shallots.
For the main course, diners can choose beef tenderloin with truffle potato purée and black pepper jus, or Murray cod with a prawn-and-coriander dumpling and a laksa-inspired crustacean emulsion. Spend National Day exploring Singapore’s rich history and cultural heritage at the National Museum of Singapore. From 1 August 2026, the museum’s National Day programme, “Myths, Legends & the Stories That Made Us”, brings together performances, storytelling sessions, hands-on workshops and family-friendly activities that celebrate the nation’s past and present.
One highlight is Our Favourite Haunts: Through the Lens of Migrant Workers, presented as part of the Migrant Workers Photography Festival. The exhibition offers a fresh perspective on familiar Singapore landmarks through photographs captured by members of the migrant worker community.
As night falls, head outdoors for Voyage of Icons, a spectacular projection-mapping experience by visual artist Howie Kim. Illuminating the museum’s iconic façade, the multisensory show journeys through five imagined worlds, weaving together the legend of Sang Nila Utama with a futuristic vision of Singapore.
The celebrations culminate on 9 August 2026, when visitors can take part in a heritage hunt, craft workshops, family activities and live performances throughout the day before settling down on the Front Lawn to catch the live National Day Parade telecast.

6. Edwin Goh & Rachel Wan Spotlight Youth Mental Wellness This National Day
National Day can also be an opportunity to reflect on the people and personal experiences that make up Singapore’s wider story. Geneco’s “Begin Again” campaign approaches the season through the subject of youth mental wellness, presenting difficult periods as possible beginnings rather than endpoints.
At the centre of the campaign is a nine-piece crochet fashion collection created with local actors and creators Edwin Goh and Rachel Wan. Inspired by their experiences of grief, exhaustion, uncertainty and rebuilding, the pieces represent different stages of an emotional journey.
The handcrafted nature of the collection gives the showcase a personal, tactile quality.
