Korean comfort food has a new address in Singapore, and it’s causing quite the stir.
BOMUL Samgyetang, newly opened at CHIJMES, offers what could easily be the city’s most diverse collection of ginseng chicken soups, with ten distinct variations.
For travelers who have visited Seoul, a bowl of samgyetang is practically a rite of passage. Traditionally, the dish features a whole young chicken stuffed with glutinous rice and slow-cooked in a fragrant broth made from dates, roots, herbs, and premium ginseng that has been aged for several years. While samgyetang is served at many Korean restaurants in Singapore, few specialize in it with the dedication BOMUL brings to the table. Here, authenticity, healthfulness, and flavour take center stage.
The restaurant is the brainchild of two lifelong friends—a Korean entrepreneur and a professional bodybuilder-model—who bonded during their military service 18 years ago. Their shared passion for wellness and home-cooked Korean flavours grew into a dream: to share the warmth, nourishment, and resilience of traditional Korean cooking with Singaporeans.

Quality is at the core of BOMUL’s menu. Each bowl starts with local, free-range organic spring chickens, reared for 50–60 days to achieve tender, flavourful meat. These are paired with BOMUL’s signature hanbang broth, a medicinal Korean base made from 18 hand-selected herbs celebrated for their restorative benefits. Ingredients such as dried gardenia fruit, mulberry leaf, deer antler, and goji berries lend layers of flavour and wellness, embodying the Korean tradition of boyangsik—foods meant to strengthen and rejuvenate the body.

BOMUL’s samgyetang collection caters to a variety of tastes, from the Beauty-boosting Collagen ($29++) and the fiery Spicy Cure ($32++) to the comforting Energy ($36++), the luxurious Black Truffle ($38++), the Restorative ($38++) and more.
Among them, we were especially impressed by the Spicy Cure ($32++). Beyond the natural umami of the chicken broth, it delivers a bold, fiery kick that’s packed with flavor—truly unlike any Korean ginseng chicken soup we’ve tried before.
Another highlight was the Restorative ($38++), featuring aged black garlic that infuses the soup with a deep, earthy aroma and subtle sweetness. Rich in antioxidants and polysaccharides, it’s believed to support kidney function, circulation, and immune health, making it both delicious and nourishing.

The restaurant also serves the Samgyejuk, a silky ginseng chicken porridge, alongside a tempting array of sides such as the Duck and Chicken Ddukgalbi ($22++), the Minari Pancake (S$22++) and the Spicy Chicken Feet ($18++). Every meal comes with free-flow banchan, freshly prepared daily, including classic kimchi and pickled garlic.
To complete the experience, BOMUL offers a carefully curated selection of artisanal Korean beverages, from fresh to chestnut makgeolli, the perfect complement to these nourishing dishes.
More than just a meal, BOMUL Samgyetang is a celebration of Korean culinary tradition and wellness. For anyone craving comfort, nourishment, or an authentic taste of Korean cuisine in Singapore, BOMUL is an absolute must-visit.
