8 Top Omakase Restaurants To Try In Singapore

Singaporeans are huge fans of Japanese cuisine and this includes Omakase. Omakase means “Leave it up to you”, and the chef will decide what goes into their tummy for that meal.

The chef will usually decide on the dishes depending on the catch of the season and the ingredients available on that day. Omakase is usually available at a premium price but are they worth it? Team Weekender has sourced and tried out a few places that we highly recommend!

1. Nijuuichi

Helmed by Chef Marcus Yan, Nijuuichi serves Edomae sushi, omakase-style. Chef Marcus uses only the finest seafood flown directly from Tokyo’s Toyosu Market (previously known as Tsukiji Market) four times a week. While the Nijuuichi menu changes with the seasons, some crowd-pleasers have become firm fixtures. These include the kanpachi carpaccio laced with caviar and uni, and the Trinity Rice Bowl topped with negitoro, ikura and uni – a medley of exquisite flavors and textures.

The highly sought-after nodogouro (blackthroat seaperch) or amadai (red tilefish) features frequently at Chef Marcus’ dinner services.

Nijuuichi serves a wide range of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks. Whiskies include 17 and 21- year-old Hibiki and Nikka, while the sake selection ranges from dassai to juyondai.

For lunch, Nijuuichi offers a sushi set lunch (priced at S$128++) and two menus with varied courses (priced at S$158++ and S$208++ respectively). Two menus priced at S$288++ and S$368++ are available at dinner. All menus are omakase-style.

Nijuuichi is located at 21 Duxton Hill, Singapore 089604.
