8. Big Heart
As it closes its 55th year, the SYC Ensemble Singers ignites the spirit of anticipation for Christmas with Big Heart. Interspersing Advent music with poetry from the 11th century to the present, the concert encourages audiences to look inward and contemplate the solemn majesty of the season.
The repertoire – which includes Hildegard of Bingen’s medieval chant O Virtus Sapientiae, the ringing harmonies of Arvo Pärt’s O Antiphons, and Morten Lauridsen’s much-beloved O Magnum Mysterium –ruminates on the great saving love that we remember during Christmas.
