5. The Aventine Keyhole

An ordinary green door at the end of a cul de sac features a stunningly well-framed keyhole that provides a view of the dome of St. Peter’s perfectly situated in the centre. The building has seen many occupants from the ruler of Rome to the Knights of Malta. It is still unclear if
the keyhole was strategically designed to allow for spying or just a simple coincidence.
