3. Man Man Japanese Unagi Restaurant

The snaking queues of Man Man Japanese Unagi Restaurant has usually been close to an hour’s wait, and with its recent 2017’s Bib Gourmand induction, be prepared to wait even longer. But to witness a culinary show of freshly-imported live eels cut, gutted and char-grilled in person? It seems that many do not mind standing patiently in line. Unagi offerings include Unatama ($18.60), with eel slices resting atop a bed of rice alongside slabs of tamagoyaki, and Shirayaki ($25.80) sprinkled with pink himalayan salt. Aside from being char-grilled to perfection, the irresistible component of the eels, according to diners, is the slathers of Chef’s special tare marinade that contribute to sweet-and-savoury goodness.
