With the excitement of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, fans may be wondering where the iconic scenes were filmed – and whether you can actually visit them.

According to travel search engine Skyscanner, travellers are in fact expressing growing interest in visiting the larger-than-life filming locations of the popular Star Wars films. Since the release of the global trailer in April, there has been an increase in searches compared to the same time last year.

Here are four destinations in particular that have piqued the interest of travellers.

1. Iceland: Eadu

Topping the list is Iceland, where the scenes of a new plant of Eadu in Star Wars were rumoured to be filmed. Eadu has been name-dropped on the packaging of Hasbro toys and in Chapter 3 of the #GoRogue video series, in which a new Rogue One character screams, “This is Pao, I’m on Eadu, and I need backup!”

It has since been speculated that Eadu is the unknown rocky and rainy planet seen in the Rogue One trailers.

Iceland, which represents Eadu, saw about a three-fold search increase between 2015 and 2016. Skyscanner recommends that the best month to travel here, based on average savings and average booking pricing, is in May.
