2. Jordan: Jedha

Jordan has been a popular filming location for outer space scenes and movies, including The Martian. It has picked up in popularity in a parallel to the hype around Star Wars, in which the country appears as the desert moon Jedha.

Among its inhabitants are warrior monk Chirrut Îmwe, who is played by Donnie Yen in Rogue One. The best time to visit Jordan is in November.
