7. Perhentian Islands, Malaysia
Located in the Malaysian state of Terengganu, the Perhentian Islands are made up of two main islands, one being Perhentian Besar (“Big Perhentian”). It’s popular among couples for their quiet and intimate resorts and beaches – one of them is even called Romantic Beach! Snorkeling and diving in the Perhentian Islands are cheap and good for beginners; the best beaches to do so are Long Beach and Coral Bay, where the waters are clear and home to amazing shallow coral reefs.
