If you've already embarked on the Golden Route, also known as the old Tōkaidō road from Tokyo to Kyoto, you might want to consider exploring Ehime the next time you visit Japan.
While less bustling than its counterparts, the prefecture, which literally means "lovely princess" in Japanese, is rich with history, culture, and the traditional spirit of hospitality. Plus, its warm and mild climate makes it a breeze to travel anytime of the year.

4. Marvel at beautiful floral and fauna
Surrounded by rich nature as well as mountain and sea, Ehime offers stunning seasonal sights of flora and fauna.
Head to Nanrakuen Park, Shikoku’s largest Japanese garden, to see more than 30,000 Japanese irises blossoming during Summer time. Throughout the year, visitors can marvel at flowers such as azalea, cherry and plum blossoms.
Alternatively, take a short hike to Mt. Tomisu to see a carpet of pink azalea blooms cover the entire summit in early May.
