5. Zadar, Croatia

A city that’s less busy than Dubrovnik, catch one of the world’s most beautiful sunsets at Monument to the Sun—created by artist Nikola Basic, made of solar panels that light up into colourful patterns as night spreads across the sky. Zadar is also home to the Sea Organ—an art installation, formed by cleverly cutting steps into a section of the concrete waterfront promenade; these steps contain underwater pipes that sound musical notes when filled with water by the waves,  situated along the beautiful Western Quay. If there’s anywhere that makes our bucket list, Zadar is definitely one of them.
