4. Split, Croatia
Croatia’s second-largest city on the Dalmatian Coast, Split is known for its beaches and for the Diocletian’s Palace. Built in 305AD by Roman Emperor Diocletan; explore the Peristyle, the Cardo and the cellar—a must-see for Game of Thrones fans, as this is where Daenerys kept her dragons when she was in Meereen. If you’re touring the Peristyle around noon, keep your eyes peeled for actors re-enacting the arrival of the Emperor and his wife, surrounded by Roman soldiers.
