6. Germany: Where’s the pickle?

It is said that when Germans decorate the Christmas tree, the last ornament to be hung is the Weihnachtsgurke (“Christmas pickle”). Usually a glass ornament that may have been passed down through generations, the pickle is tucked away in the tree and the first child to find it on Christmas morning gets a gift.
