2. Peace Memorial Park (Atomic Bomb Dome) 平和記念公園（原爆ドーム)
This UNESCO World Heritage Site has long been an international symbol for the abolishment of nuclear weapons and emphasises the importance of perpetual peace around the world. These ruins, caused by the nuclear bombings of World War Two, were thus preserved as a peace monument.
For the history lover, Hiroshima is full of heritage sites and museums, owing to the city’s development as a military centre during the Meiji era and it being the first city in the world to have a nuclear bomb dropped on it during World War Two.
Notable historical locations not to be missed include the Cathedral for World Peace, Hiroshima Castle and the Hiroshima Orizuru Tower— from where you can get a bird’s eye view of Hiroshima City, two of Hiroshima’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites and even a glimpse of Mt Misen on a clear day!
Those spots are located in the centre of Hiroshima city so that you can easily visit same as Shukkeien Garden (historic Japanese garden) and Hondori Shopping Arcade (one of the largest commercial streets in Chugoku and Shikoku regions).

How to get to Hiroshima
The regional wing of Singapore Airlines started the first non-stop flights between Singapore and Hiroshima in October 2017, and now flies direct to Hiroshima Airport from Singapore’s Changi Airport.
SilkAir flies to and returns from Hiroshima three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays. During the period of 7 Jan 19 till 24 Feb 2019, SilkAir will be flying two times a week on Mondays and Thursdays only.
