#ThirstyThursdays Queens: Home to OG Hip-Hop Beats And Boozy Cocktails

A Quiet Respite With Plenty Of Good Music

Hidden away from the hustle and bustle of Zouk Singapore sits their latest brainchild, Queens—an intimate bar paying homage to the OG legends of hip-hop musicians and the menu presents a selection of eight concoctions by their bartender—avid hip-hop lover and twice Young Bartender of the Year contender, Ashwin Raj.

Inspired by the New York City borough of Queens, that precinct is famous as the birthplace of many hip-hop luminaries such as Run DM C,Salt-N-Pepa, Public Enemy. The menu is built around an exploration of the genre through taste and ambience, and the cocktails are categorized to represent the four pillars of hip-hop; DJ-ing, MC-ing, Breakdance and Graffiti.

The Willdabeast is named after professional dance-choreographer, William “Willdabeast” Adams, bearing aromatic and balanced flavours. Under the break-dancing pillar, this cocktail features house green pea-infused vodka with slow juiced celery, lemon and sugar, garnished with a celery stick.

An earthy and velvety tipple flavoured with beets, named after graffiti-lined street—The North 6th Street boasts vibrant and fruity flavours, featuring Mezcal with lime juice, beetroot juice and crème de cacao, finished off with a chocolate chunk.

Under the pillar of MC-ing, there’s the Shaolin Swordsman— named after the iconic Wu-Tang Clan. For those looking for bold flavours, this is for you: a reimagined Old Fashioned with a subtle sweetness of cynar and coffee liquor.

The Blaq Poet is an unhinged interpretation of the Jungle Bird; inspired by rapper and DJ, Blaq Poet, featuring pineapple rum and Campari shaken with pineapple and lime juice, espresso and a nose of cardamom. Quirky and refreshing indeed!

All cocktails are priced at $25.00.
