5 Undiscovered Vacation Spots In Western Japan

Bounded by the same national identity, these enchanting gems shed a different on Japan

I personally really love Japan. So much so, it has been five times since I have visited the country and lived to tell the tale here and here.

One may assume I'm talking about the more familiar tourist-y places of Tokyo, Kyoto and Hokkaido, but instead, I found myself gravitating to the lesser-known-and-treaded gems in the Western part of Japan.  Breathtaking, enthralling and brimming with a myriad of fun activities, here are five vacation spots in Westen Japan for an alternative experience of the Land of the Rising Sun.

Visit: Tomomien Fruit Farm

Okayama City is the hometown of the famous Japanese folklore character Momotaro, also known as Peach Boy, and producer of high-grade Japanese fruits. Approximately 30 minutes drive from Okayama Station, you can reach Tomomien, a very popular tourist farm in Japan. It is home to four kinds of grapes and 23 kinds of peaches, among which is the white peach. Visitors can experience the pleasure of picking, tasting, and finally bringing home the plump fruits.  Every year from June to September, the farm offers its super fun fruit-picking activity, more information found via www.hakutou.jp.

You had best try the white peach flavored ice cream once you’re there!
