Has it really been three and a half decades since the first Disneyland in Asia, Disneyland Tokyo opened?

The year was 1983, almost 30 years after the original "Happiest Place on Earth" opened in Anaheim, California in 1955. Not only was it then the only Disneyland in Asia, Disneyland Tokyo was the first park to be built outside the United States.

From April 2018 all the way to March 2019, Tokyo Disney Resort will celebrate its birthday with a special anniversary event "Tokyo Disney Resort 35th ‘Happiest Celebration" held at both Disneyland and DisneySea Park. Guests are in for an incomparable experience of magical fun with a slew of new attractions, activities, and programmes for the whole family!

Here are some of the exciting highlights you just can't miss:

4. Track down the Happiest Mickey Spots

What’s a birthday party without a little treasure hunt of sorts? There will be 35 Mickey Mouse spread over Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea, each donned in a special costume offering plenty of photo opportunities for visitors.

For 2300 yen (SG$29), guests can purchase a Happiest Memory Maker that immerses them in the festivities via an interactive way. Leave the device on, and whenever you’re near any Happiest Mickey Spots,  the device will light up, and a voice clip of Mickey Mouse or his Disney friends will be played! It’s almost like Pokemon Go!

Venue: Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea
