If you’ve ever googled “ways to fix frizzy hair” — trust me, you’re not alone.

Even for somebody born with relatively straight hair, my mane gets incredibly frizzy from time to time. The tropical humidity wrecks havoc on my just-out-of-salon locks within an hour, much less when I’m left to my own devices (cue cheap hairdryer).

Tried-and-tested: Instead of attempting random Internet beauty hacks, I decided to try out the John Frieda Miraculous Recovery Shampoo and Conditioner ($15.90 each).

The newly launched haircare range aims to address the issues of both dry and damaged hair, by nourishing and replenishing the hair from the start of the styling process.

Containing Amino Repair Complex, the moisturising range helps to repair the look and feel of split ends while controlling frizz. It is said to restore hair’s resilience so as to prevent breakage.

The formula, which contains silicone and polymers, softens and smoothes the hair shaft for a damage-free, smooth finish.

I started by wetting my hair slightly before working a dollop of shampoo into my scalp. It wasn’t particularly frothy even after lathering.

Upon rinsing off, it left my scalp feeling rather clean. Afterwards, I massaged the conditioner into my cleansed hair, focusing on the ends and mid-length before leaving it on for awhile before rinsing again.

Verdict: I’ve been using these products for a couple of weeks or so, and loved that it lived up to its promise of combating frizz.

There were lesser flyaway hairs and frizz, especially obvious if I tie my mane up into a high ponytail. The only downside? I wished it left my hair more moisturised — it still felt as dry as before.

Available at selected Watsons, Guardian, Cold Storage and FairPrice Xtra & Finest outlets.
