Enlisting the help of design firm The Orange Cube, the owners of this inter-terrace house were looking for a home that’s formal in aesthetic but casual in spatial arrangement.
Living Quarters
One enters directly into the living area, which is clearly-defined as a room on its own, being a few steps lower than the adjacent dining area.
A controlled colour scheme of black and white is only interrupted by a peek of light beige bleeding in from the dining area.
Tiered Schemes
The split-level arrangement of the living and dining areas offered the opportunity to give each space due attention without design features competing with one another.
The living room has a bookcase with stepped shelving while the dining area is privy to its very own feature wall.
The Big Spread
One of the luxuries in this house is the large open kitchen that sits beside the dining area. Here, appliances have been incorporated in the kitchen wall units, while a compact and versatile island counter stands in the centre of the space – it can be used as a breakfast counter or as additional preparation space.
Raise the Bar
The dining area is well supported by a bar area. Dressed in formal black laminated finishes, the bar area is a handsome setting for pre-dinner aperitifs, soothing nightcaps or even a mischievous cocktail during the day.
Sleeping Order
Customised joinery in the master bedroom focuses on keeping things organised. Two columns of shelves were built to store the handbags that the lady of the house collects. Beside this, a dresser extends into a console below the TV.
To keep the look coherent, the designers customised the bed frame, complete with a low, understated headboard.
Bubbling Good Times
The en suite in the master bedroom is lavish to say the least. A larger-than-usual shower stall cloaked in charcoal-coloured tiles follows a modest vanity area.
The piece de resistance of the bathroom, however, is the Jacuzzi tub that occupies the far end of the space. It’s not hard to imagine how this is one of the owner’s favourite spaces in the home.
