Scent can take you places. This idea inspired Ikea collaboration with Ben Gorham, founder of the luxury fragrance and fashion house Byredo.
“The way your home smells is very emotional and plays a huge part in how you feel being there. It isn’t just about things being functional and practical, it’s the place where you come together with family and friends and make memories,” says Ben Gorham.
Ben Gorham’s company offers a range of exclusive scents for people and homes. It is being developed with an understated approach. All by using the simplest composition of the highest quality raw materials. In addition, this collaboration has allowed IKEA to explore how to make use of the power of scents. For instance, using scent to create the invisible design and improve life quality at home.
This collection – OSYNLIG (Swedish for “invisible”) features 13 scented candle fragrances and divided into 3 categories. Firstly, there is FRESH (Tea Leaves and Verbena, Cassis and Freesia, Pomegranate and Amber, Basil and Mint, Fig and Cypress). Furthermore, there is FLORAL (Peach Blossom and Bambo, Lilac and Amber, Rose and Raspberries, Cotton Flower and Apple Blossom). Lastly, WOODY (Swedish Birch and Juniper, Firewood and Spice, Sandalwood and Vanilla, Tobacco and Honey) scents.
That’s not the end. Each OSYNLIG candle is housed in a hard-wearing ceramic pot. Glazed with two colours that represent the ingredients. From cypress and fig or tobacco and honey, which was used to make it. After you have finished with the scent, the container can be used to store small things. Or simply as an interesting decorative object with its own story.
This Chinese New Year, the OSYNLIG collection is sure to spark your home design inspiration for the season. Welcome the Niu (牛) year with the luxury candles yet affordable price.
