For beautiful, well-groomed arches, we turned to the experts
The importance of well-groomed brows cannot be underestimated — after all, our precious arches define and enhance our facial features.
Unfortunately, woes like unkempt brows and mismatched brow colour plague even the best of us. To attain ideal brows, the Weekender team gave the latest products from Benefit Cosmetics a go.
Brow Woes: Faded Eyebrow Embroidery
“In pursuit of fuss-free yet picture perfect arches, I decided to undergo eyebrow embroidery a year back. Little did I realise how much my brows had faded since, leaving a faint outline of its shape.
To redefine my brows, Laura Loh, Senior Brow Expert at Benefit, used the Goof Proof Eyebrow Pencil ($42) to fill in my brows. Its custom, non-sharpen “goof proof” tip glided on easily, reviving the fullness of my brows. Its built-in blending spoolie-brush also helped to blend and define my arches.
Following that, she used the 3D BROWtones Eyebrow Enhancer ($42), gently applying the highlighting gel from the root to tip of my brows. The result? Subtle highlights over my brows, adding to its depth and dimension.”
Verdict: “Overall, my brows looked full, natural and sleek.”
Brow Woes: Uneven Brows
“My natural eyebrows are pretty short, so filling them in can be a very tedious chore.
To solve this, Laura first tinted my brows to match my newly lightened hair. After that, she explained that in order keep them looking groomed, I would need a combination of two items to help elongate my brow shape.
She first used the Precisely Brow Pencil #2 ($42) to extend and define. Then, the popular Gimme Brow #1 ($42) was applied to smoothen unruly hairs.
Verdict: “I’ve always known that eyebrows were a crucial to framing your face, but little did I realise what a simple grooming session could do to help to bring out my features better.”

Brow Woes: Harsh, Fierce-Looking Brows
“I often get comments that I have fierce-looking eyebrows. Upon hearing that, Laura decided that tinting them would help them appear lighter and softer.
The entire process was quick and pain-free. In less than ten minutes, my brows were already looking more elegant and feminine.
Laura also shaped my brows with a slightly more curvy arch to enhance my facial features. Lastly, she used Brow Zings ($56), a duo-coloured brow powder, to help me colour in the sparse areas and frame my eyebrows.”
Verdict: “I love that my brows are now defined and full. I do feel that I look more approachable now.”
Brow Woes: Unruly, Messy Eyebrows
“As somebody who goes to work bare-faced, I rarely pay attention to my brows.
Laura first started by shaping my brows and then applying the Browvo Conditioning Primer ($49).
She also used the Ka Brow #5 ($42) tinted gel, which filled the gaps of my sparse brows nicely. Its twenty-four hour waterproof formula ensures that it stays put in our humid weather.
For the final step, she used the Ready Set Brow! ($42) clear brow gel, which helped to tame and set my brows for the rest of the day. I was amazed at how neat my brows looked.”
Verdict: “All the products were really long-lasting and easy to apply, even for a beauty beginner like me.”
