2. Check your surroundings, find good lighting
Lighting is an important element of good photography. You may have the latest camera but if you are indoors that is dimly lit, it will be difficult to achieve a pretty flat lay. Natural lighting serves as the best option to execute a well-lit shot. As the mid-day sun can be harsh, try getting your shots in the early morning or closer to the evening right before the sun goes down. Finding the optimal spot with befitting lighting takes time. Try near a window or close to a glass panel where light seamlessly passes through to illuminate the surroundings with a soft glow. Be patient as you search for that ideal spot at home or in your workplace. Once the hunt is over, you are on your way to taking some beautiful flay lays.
