Hollywood has been rolling out many remakes of classic films lately, and if you’re a fan of the 1973 film “Papillion” by Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman, you won’t want to miss this new version. Henri “Papillon” Charrière (Charlie Hunnam) was living a good life as a safecracker in 1931 Paris, until he gets framed for murder after one wrong move on a job. Sentenced to life in a remote penal colony, Papillon meets a scrawny forger, Louis Dega (Rami Malek), and they decide to team up to help each other survive the brutal and hopeless prison conditions. The stakes get higher when they try to plot a dangerous escape, ultimately causing their convenient alliance to blossom into a lasting friendship as they endure the harsh seas and jungles, and the horrors of the French penal system, all while trying not to lose themselves in the process.
