Celebrate National Day with free performances by local artists, and a romantic comedy with an all-Asian cast set in Singapore
4. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again
It’s been 10 years, but get out your go-go boots, because here we go again! The highly anticipated sequel to “Mamma Mia!” brings more romance, more nostalgic ABBA hits to sing along to, and an even more star-studded cast with the addition of Lily James and Cher. The release of the trailer caused a lot of flurry as the minimal footage of Meryl Streep got everyone asking if the Hollywood legend will be back to play Donna. Well, fans can be assured that Meryl will appear in the movie, but as for how big or small her role will be, you’ll have to see the movie to find out! What’s clear, based on Lily James’ role as young Donna, amongst young versions of Donna’s friends, is that we’re getting flashbacks to the time when Donna met and fell in love with Sam (Pierce Brosnan), Harry (Colin Firth) and Bill (Stellan Skarsgard), all at the same time on a Greek island. In the meantime, we continue to follow Donna’s daughter Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) and her present-day struggles with pregnancy. Visiting the Greek island of her mother’s youth, Sophie tries to rebuild her mother’s hotel and relaunch it as her own, all while dealing with some very personal losses and heartbreak.
