From crime thrillers to rom-coms, Korean dramas are still killing it
As 2018 draws to a close, some of the best Korean dramas of this year are sneaking onto our screens to make the festive season a truly entertaining one. We’re obsessed with the new Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum series “Encounter,” which has been shattering records. Other melodramas, comedies and thrillers released this end-of-year also prove that K-dramas have still got it. 1. Encounter (previously known as Boyfriend)
Song Hye Kyo, queen of the Hallyu drama wave, reigns again in Encounter. A sweet story of love and the possibility of fate, it is one of the most watched Korean dramas right now! Park Bo Gum (from Hello Monster) also stars as Kim Jin-Hyeok, a young man who meets Cha Soo-Hyun (Song), the daughter of an influential politician, by chance in Cuba. What seems like pure coincidence soon blossoms into an intimate relationship, as their lives continue to intertwine even when they return to Korea. Expect heart-fluttering romance and beautiful cinematography in this record-setting drama – its debut episode gained more viewers than the premiere of the popular K-drama Goblin!
