This isn’t your first time in Singapore – what do you like about being here?
The last time I came to Singapore, I didn’t expect such a large number of people to recognise me. I was very surprised and happy to get to meet my fans here.
I also realised that Singapore’s a very clean and organised city. That’s really impressive! I like it here.
How do you feel about being part of such an anticipated series?
Even before this show was announced, I’ve always been familiar with the original Chinese version of “Scarlet Heart” and knew that it was immensely popular. So, to be a part of this mega-hit production, there was a lot of pressure.
But at the end of the day, I decided to give it a go and enjoy it as much as I can, because that will bring out the best in me as an actor. I got to work with many ‘idol’ actors and one of the most prominent Korean directors, so I really enjoyed the whole process.
What can viewers look forward to from this drama? Is there a kiss scene?
[Laughs] No, no kiss! But there are visually and aesthetically attractive elements in this drama – for instance, the angles it was shot in and the colours that appear in the scenes.
The original version was beautifully shot, and I feel that this drama really enhances it. It’s very pretty.
"Scarlet Heart" premieres on 29 Aug and will air every Monday and Tuesday at 9pm on One (Singtel TV Ch 513 and 604, StarHub TV Ch 124, 820 and 823).
