Daddy issues
After breaking up with Mark Darcy (played by fellow Oscar-winner Colin Firth), Jones — now 43 — moves on to become an award-winning producer of a major news show.
She’s given up cigarettes, cut down on chardonnay, doesn’t obsess about her weight and her self-help books have been replaced with political literature.
Then, her fortune takes a turn when she meets dashing American Jack Qwant (Patrick Dempsey), a suitor who’s everything Darcy was not. In a twist of events, Jones finds herself unexpectedly expecting – and she can only be 50 per cent sure of the identity of her baby’s father.
Actress Zellweger mused, “I like to think of it as a coming-of-age film that’s set at a later point in the character’s life… This chapter in Bridget’s story explores the differences between what you imagine your life is going to be versus the reality of where you find yourself.”
